Jon Copeland - CEO
Jon D. Copeland, R. Ph., is the CEO/President of American Associated Pharmacies (AAP), a member-owned cooperative representing more than 2,000 independent pharmacies in 49 states.
A licensed pharmacist with a long-time reputation for process improvement, inventory control and accounting integrity, Copeland held leadership positions with Scottsboro, Ala.,-based Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (API) from 1996 – 2009. In fact, the API direct generic pharmaceutical initiative leveraged by most AAP member pharmacies today was among the combined-purchasing solutions spearheaded by Copeland.
With an eye on scalability, Copeland was among the chief drivers behind the strategic merger of API and Phoenix, Ariz.-based United Drugs (now Arete). The 2009 merger led to the formation of AAP, which today is the largest independent pharmacy co-operative that directly contracts on both the purchase and sell sides of the independent pharmacy sector.
Copeland previously served as vice president of the Federation of Pharmacy Networks (FPN) board. He supports numerous pharmacy-focused organizations, including Florida Pharmacy Association, California Pharmacy Association, National Community Pharmacists Association, National Association of Specialty Pharmacy, and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy.
He attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated with honors from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
Married with two children, Copeland, an avid fisherman, lives in Scottsboro, Ala.
